Who is Leonardo Coello

As an Afro-Latino born and raised in New York City, I have spent my life deeply connected to the vibrant tapestry of the Bronx community. My parents immigrated to this country with little more than dreams of a better future, instilling in me the values of hard work, resilience and service.
My journey through the New York City public education system, from John F. Kennedy High School in the Bronx to earning my Master of Human Services in Leadership, has equipped me with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our young people and families.
After a decade in corporate management, I followed my passion for community empowerment and education, serving in roles in many community organizations. Over the years, I have worked tirelessly to ensure that all children in our community have access to the quality education and support they need to thrive.
Now, as a father of two and a committed family man, I am motivated to make an even greater impact. I believe serving as an Assembly Member for the 77th District of the Bronx is the natural next step in my journey of service to our community.
I want to run for office to be a strong voice for the people of the Bronx, advocating for policies that address the systemic inequalities that hold our community back. From improving access to education and job opportunities to fighting for affordable housing and healthcare, I am committed to being a tireless advocate for progress and equity.
My experience in both municipal and state government, as well as the nonprofit sectors, along with my deep roots in the Bronx, uniquely position me to understand the needs of our community and work collaboratively to implement positive change. . I am ready to bring my passion, commitment and leadership to Albany to fight for a better future for all residents of District 77. Together we can build a Bronx where every family has the opportunity to thrive.
